Well its all on chip they'll be no upgrades, the iphone is just a gimmik gadget meaning you can use it instead of the rf remote which will have a keyboard on the backside instead of an on screen virtual one found in other boxes.

In a nutshell sigma based units(wdtv,popcorn etc) will only ever do what sigma lets them do, never any more than what was paid for upfront.

It came for atv, give it time for your archos! I bought mine at the FS table for open box items for $89 and there are plenty offerings on ebay. The remote has a keyboard similar to many smart phones for web surfing. The firmware is linux based and it is sad there is no third party support for this as the hardware it self is great.

It records good video through component or svideo and more hard drive space can be added via usb and the unit can be used as a pc external drive. The plugins for surfing and some video play back will cost you some extra money from archos, but I was able to buy all four on ebay for $25 cdn.

However though it has a hdmi output it's best resolution is 480p and hidef content can not even be displayed.
